51 new COVID-19 cases recorded in Nigeria making it the highest number of cases recorded in the country in a day. Nigeria has confirmed 51 new cases of coronavirus, according to the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC).
On Friday, April 17, the NCDC registered thirty-two cases in Lagos, six in Kano, five in Kwara, two in the Federal Capital Territory and Oyo, and one in Ogun and Ekiti.
This brings the total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 recorded in Nigeria to 493, discharged cases 159 and Deaths 17.
Meanwhile there is now a total of 2,258,909 cases worldwide and 154,388 deaths. In terms of fatalities in the world, US death toll is the highest with more than 37,000 deaths & 710,272 cases.
Italy follows with over 22,000 deaths & 172,434 cases and then Spain with more than 20,000 deaths and 190,839 cases.
Algeria and Egypt’s death toll as of Friday was just over 364 and 204 respectively making them the worst hit countries in terms of deaths in the African continent.
Egypt now has the highest coronavirus confirmed cases topping South Africa in Africa with 2,844 cases.
