Arsenal, Tottenham battle to sign highly rated Bundesliga star Florian Grillitschm in January

The Austrian midfielder has been impressive for Hoffenheim since he joined them in 2017 – His superb showing against Manchester City during the week exposed him to top European managers who will try to sign him in January Premier League giants Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly in the race to sign Hoffenheim midfielder Florian Grillitsch.

The 23-year-old midfielder joined his present club from fellow German League side Werder Bremen in 2017 having signed a four year deal on a free transfer.

The Austrian has until the summer of 2021 before his current deal with his Bundesliga side expires but he might not be allowed to see out his deal due to clubs monitoring his progress at the club. His impressive display agaunst Manchester City in their last Champions League group encounter made him known to the English fans. And now Spurs and Arsenal are weighing up a move for the Austria international, according to German publication Bild.

It is unknown yet how much both clubs will be asked to pay for the midfielder, but he will be in action for his side three more times this year before the Bundesliga goes on break. Meanwhile, Unai Emery’s men travel to St Mary’s to battle Southampton on Sunday as they look to continue their pursuit of a top four spot. While Pochettino’s men welcome Burnley to Wembley knowing that a win will keep them firmly positioned in third spot in the Premier League.

Mauricio Pochettino’s team are yet to draw a league game this season, winning 12 and losing four of their games far. After losing to Arsenal in the north London derby a couple of weeks ago, they are still two points better off than their rivals. Legit.ng recalls that Arsenal youngster Bukayo Saka expressed excitement after making his Europa League debut in his side’s slim victory over Qarabag at the Emirates Stadium. Alexandre Lacazette scored the only goal that handed the north Londoners the victory as they wrapped up the group stage with 16 points from six matches. The 17-year-old admits that he has been buzzing since he found out that he would be included in the match day squad for the meeting according to Tribal Football.
