Chief of Staff of President Buhari, Abba Kyari, has died; Gov Obaseki, Keyamo, Dino Melaye, Ben Bruce, others react. The President’s chief of staff, Abba Kyari, has died. He died more than two weeks after having tested Coronavirus positive on Friday April 17.
This saddening news comes at a time that many Nigerians has been asking for the whereabouts of Abba Kyari ever since he contracted the novel coronavirus.
Announcing Kyari’s death on Twitter, Presidency spokesman Garba Shehu, wrote;
”The Presidency regrets to announce the passage of the Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari.
“The deceased had tested positive to the ravaging COVID-19, and had been receiving treatment. But he died on Friday, April 17, 2020.”
”May God accept his soul. Funeral arrangements will be announced shortly.”
Bashir Ahmad, Personal Assistant on New Media to President Muhammadu Buhari, and Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, also confirmed the passing of the former Chief of Staff.
Ahmad tweeted, “Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari, has died. May Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him the highest rank of Jannah. Allah ya jikan sa”.
Adesina on his part, wrote, “Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari, passes on. May God rest his soul. Amen. Funeral arrangements to be announced soon”.
